Formerly operating out of the former Oppenheimer Group warehouse in Vancouver, B.C., Fresh Direct Produce maintains the highest standards of operational expertise. Recently, we have relocated to Malkin Avenue which is considered the main market area to a much larger warehouse allowing the company to gain a more competitive edge. New coolers employ temperature controls with racking for optimum storage and display, and a fleet of new trucks ensures prompt, reliable delivery.

Thanks to an integrated computer system, Fresh Direct maintains complete control over purchase orders, sales orders, inventory control and accounting. "We know exactly how much inventory we have on hand," says Davis Yung. "That helps us and our customers make better decisions."

Fresh Direct's service goes far beyond buying and selling produce. Fresh Direct uses its knowledge and experience to suggest optimal ways for suppliers to launch new products and design channels of distribution, advertising and demo sampling. Customers receive assistance with issues such as pricing strategy, coupons, seasonal festivals, placement, and display. "We take pride in helping our customers and suppliers with their business development," says Davis Yung. Fresh Direct actively analyzes global produce trends, monitors production areas around the world, and keeps up-to-date on international laws and health requirements. Taking on the business of information allows Fresh Direct to help its customers and suppliers deal with all the uncertainties of the international marketplace. "The produce industry has gone from pure commodities trading to being consumer and market driven," says Davis Yung. "Experience is important, but it's no substitute for keeping up with market conditions."
